Drivers Cam Gvc Pc 840 Driver

Hello, recently I purchased a 1,5 year old HP Elitebook 840 G1. So far I'm quite happy with it. It was only after a while that I discovered that a webcam is missing. At the top of the screen you can see the spot where the webcam is supposed to be, but in my case it is replaced by a plastic lid. As I really like to have a webcam I'm thinking about reselling it or how I can fit it with a webcam. So I want to ask if that is possible? Can I simply buy a replacement webcam (and maybe cable) for that laptop and fit it inside?

Or are there also differences in Firmware or maybe BIOS even between models with and without webcam?I already have changed the display and webcam cable in another laptop, so I think I should manage to do that. However I wonder if simply putting the hardware inside will make the webcam work. For instance now I can turn most devices off in the BIOS, but a webcam option is missing of course.I'm also wondering if the pin-connector for the webcam and the corresponding cable is already inside of my laptop or if I also have to change the displaycable to make things work. The product code of my laptop is: D1F44AVHere is what I found:-webcam:-Replacement cable:Hopefully somebody can shed some light into this. I know this is late, but i was in the same situation, and i was an easy fixOnly the webcam module is needed, the cable is already there as there is aleady a mic module in place.Loosen the top part of the LCD bezel by using your nails or a removal tool, swap out the old mic board with the new webcam board,There is an opaque piece of plastic where the transparent webcam cover should be - just pop that out ( you will need to put some cover there ideallyboot up, install the drivers, reboot, check if its enabled in bios, and you should be good to go!
